Capito Wins Tender to Help Reinforce NHS Grampian's IT Function

Capito, a leading IT Managed Service provider, has won a tender to maintain NHS Grampian’s IT environment. In an agreement which will run for two years with a possible extension up to a further three years. The contract will see Capito assume break/fix maintenance responsibility for all the Health Board's desktop and laptop computers, as well as servers, printers and PDAs.

These IT elements are particularly sensitive in a health service provision environment and NHS Grampian’s selection of Capito reflects its confidence in the critical function of the company’s engineering repair facilities and its ability to provide a fast, flexible and cost effective solution which reduces downtime to an absolute minimum.

Capito, which was established in Scotland in 1990 and now operates across the UK, opened its North of Scotland Region only three years ago. From a standing start, the northern office in Golden Square in Aberdeen now has IT service revenues of more than £2m and employs twelve staff.

Iain Edgar, Capito’s North of Scotland Region manager, said: “It was very gratifying to secure this project even though the timescales from implementation to going live were pretty tight. The client was coming to the end of its existing service contract and Capito had to draw on all its expertise to design the new service and ensure an orderly and seamless transition of the IT environment.

“The contract also involved the transfer of five employees from the previous service provider under the TUPE Regulations. This was a complex process, but it provided a valuable continuity of service for users and managers within the NHS Grampian Health Service.”

Capito is now incorporating the service ethic and approach which has made it the provider of choice for clients in the region who include NHS Tayside, Aberdeen University, Apache Oil & Gas and CHC Scotia.

Iain Edgar said: “Capito’s ability to provide demonstrable cost savings and process improvement, as well its rapid and uninterrupted transformation of service will continue to create a pipeline of steady growth into the next financial year.”
