Stirling Council, Education Department: Case Study
The Background
The Stirling Council area is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, and has a population of about 94,330. It has 40 primary schools, supporting in excess of 6,500 pupils and teachers and 7 secondary schools, supporting more than 6,200 pupils and teachers, and an additional 30 nurseries.
With education establishments closed in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic and the resulting local and national lockdown periods, the Council initiated various initiatives to get mobile devices to those without sufficient technology at home to support Digital Inclusion programmes.
With facilities closed, and the need to scale this quickly, Stirling Council sought an experienced partner to support their programme.
The Solution
Capito has secure facilities to receive, store and provision the devices, as well as the logistics expertise to distribute them to individual education sites.
Capito pre-provisioned 4,505 Chromebooks and imaged 1,411 laptops at its secure Staging Centre.
Additionally, Capito worked with the Council on a deployment plan to ensure devices and asset details were mapped to individual education establishments. Taking all restrictions into consideration, customised logistics were provided to distribute them.
The Outcome
Capito provided a flexible and reliable solution to increase the availability of mobile devices to its education users during a time when they needed it most.
As a result, those most in need were able to continue learning remotely.
“I’m personally happy to evangelise how Capito have helped us through these difficult times.
The team worked tirelessly to get all of the kids and teachers connected.”
