Capito's COVID-19 Support to Victims Charity Recognised by Scottish Government

Capito featured in two Scottish Government blog articles

We were delighted to have been name-checked by the Scottish Government in two recent blog articles on their website.  

The first article highlighted how Scottish Procurement have been busy supporting the Scottish public sector through this challenging time.  As part of this, they mentioned how they connected us with the Manda Centre.  Here is an excerpt:

Another charity to benefit was the Manda Centre, who offer support to families and friends affected by trauma, loss and personal crisis. Capito (a local SME) work with HP Inc. on both the Mobile Client Devices and Desktop Client Devices frameworks. As part of their response to the pandemic, they were offering reconditioned devices such as laptops to charity organisations in need. 

We were able to connect Capito and the Manda Centre, and they were delighted to be able to donate licenced laptops. This supported the essential services provided by The Manda Centre and enabled their team of volunteers to continue to provide these valuable services remotely.

The second article focused on our work with Hamilton-based charity the Manda Centre and how Capito's laptop donations and related services would allow them to continue delivering their own services.

The Manda Centre's Chairman Joe Duffy said: 

"Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Manda Centre restructured our management & operating systems and support network. However, during the Lockdown we encountered a number of operating issues due to the lack of IT equipment for members of our Staff, Practitioners and Volunteers when working from home. 

We are extremely grateful to Capito for the provision of the laptops which has helped address a number of these issues and provided some positive outcomes. 

It is essential the Manda Centre continues to support people through isolation. This new reality of reduced social contact, self-isolation and disruption of services is having a disproportionate effect on people who were already in need of our support. The provision of the laptops has allowed us to hold conference/video calls for operational matters with our staff, management board members, practitioners and volunteers. 

We are also able to host support, training and conference/video calls with the people we support. The provision of this equipment is greatly appreciated and will be of benefit to the future development and support provision of the Manda Centre."

Capito's Managing Director Mark Gibson said: 

"The Manda Centre do so much valuable work in the community to relieve the mental and physical suffering and distress to those affected by trauma, loss and personal crisis.  Since the Centre is physically closed due to COVID-19, it was crucial to give their team the tools to keep running these vital services remotely.  

We were delighted to have been in a position to help, especially since the people most in need were also badly affected by the overall stress and reduced social contact that resulted from the pandemic.  I am very proud of how our team has pulled together to help public sector and charitable organisations in need, and how this in turn has helped the most vulnerable in our community."
